Vardhman Mahavir Medical College was established at Safdarjung Hospital (one of the largest hospitals in India, started during the Second World War) in November 2001. Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) is a medical college in New Delhi. It is attached with the famous Safdarjang Hospital for clinical teaching. The college is affiliated with the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi, and is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI). VMMC has been ranked 14th in the NIRF Ranking 2023 in the Medical Category. VMMC offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Super Specialty courses in the field of Medicine and Nursing. From 2008 onwards the postgraduate courses have been affiliated to GGSIPU which were with Delhi University. Vardhman Mahavir Medical College has excellent faculty with most of the teachers being renowned doctors at Safdarjung Hospital offering an excellent learning experience for students.​ The average package offered to MBBS and PG students at VMMC Placements stood at INR 1.5 LPA, and INR 1 LPA, respectively as per VMMC NIRF Report 2023. Safdarjung Hospital is the largest hospital under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and is well known for its quality of services to all strata of society since pre-independence days. Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Hospital Complex is spread over an area of 47acres and the built-up area covers for college is 17552.06 square meter and Hospital is 31220.77 square meter. There is separate Building for and Hostel & Residential Complex spread over an area of 11 Acres and constructed built up area of 109265 square meter. The college has Examination Hall 2nos available of area covers 200 square meter with seating capacity 250 and Lecture Theatres 4nos available with seating capacity 180 each and 2nos in Hospital building with seating capacity 150 each.

Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC): Course and Fees 

One hundred and fifty (150) seats are available from 2008 for admission to the graduate medical course of the college, leading to the award of the degree of MBBS of Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University. A CET/NEET is conducted by GGSIP University/MCI respectively, for admission.

Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC): Admission Process and Important Dates

1. Admission process for MBBS:

  • Medical aspirants have to appear for NEET-UG and obtain a valid score.
  • They have to download the application form from the college website and send it through post along with relevant documents and pay the application fee.
  • Further, they have to apply for centralised counselling conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
  • DGHS will do the counselling for 15% All India Quota seats based on NEET UG Score and list of shortlisted candidates will be displayed in DGHS website.
  • For the state-level counselling, candidates need to register with the state counselling authority body – GGSIPU, Delhi as the 85% seats will be allotted by the state counselling body.
  • Candidates need to select Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi as their first preference while doing the choice filling in the NEET UG counselling.
  • The counselling authorities will allot the seat on the basis of NEET score, preferences of colleges and courses and the reservation criteria. 
  • Candidates who choose to accept the allotted college have to report to the institute for document verification and completion of other admission processes. 

2. Admission process for MD/MS and Diploma Courses:

  • Candidates have to appear for the entrance examination NEET PG and obtain a valid score.
  • They have to apply for centralised counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
  • MCC will do the counselling for All India Quota, Deemed/Central universities, ESIC and AFMS institutes based on NEET PG score and list of shortlisted candidates will be displayed in DGHS website.
  • For the state-level counselling, candidates need to register with the state counselling authority body – GGSIPU, Delhi as the 50 % seats will be allotted by the state counselling body. 
  • Candidates need to select Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi as their first preference while doing the choice filling in counselling.
  • The counselling authorities will allot the seat on the basis of NEET score, preferences of colleges and courses and document verification and fee payment.
  • Candidates who choose to accept the allotted college have to report to the institute for document verification and completion of other admission processes. 

3. Admission process for Super Speciality Courses DM and M.CH:

  • Candidates have to apply and appear for NEET SS exam.

  • Final admission will be based on the marks secured at entrance examination, participation in the counselling process, seat allotment, document verification and fee payment.

4. Admission process for Diplomate of National Board (DNB Board Speciality and Super Speciality ) Course:

  • The candidates have to appear for DNB PDCET (Diplomate of National Board Post Diploma Centralized Entrance Test), conducted by National Board of Examinations (NBE).
  • They also have to appear for DNB counselling.
  • Final admission will be based on the marks secured at entrance examination, participation in the counselling process, seat allotment, document verification and fee payment.

1. How to apply for admission to MBBS?

  • The candidates must have completed the 10+2 level of examination with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and English as the compulsory subjects from a recognized board. 
  • There is a relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks in the qualifying examination for SC/ST students. 
  • The candidate must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2024.
  • Admission to the MBBS course at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College is strictly based on NEET UG.
  • The candidates must have the required cutoff rank to secure admission to the VMMC MBBS course.

2. How to Apply for VMMC State Quota Counseling? 

The steps to apply for VMMC Admission under the State Quota are as follows: 

  • Go to the official admission portal of GGSIPU. 
  • Search and click on the link for ‘IPU NEET Counseling 2024’.
  • Enter basic details such as Name, Mobile Number, and DOB to register.
  • An automatically generated application number will be sent to the candidate’s registered phone number. 
  • Log in to the portal using the Application Number and Password.
  • Fill out the application form by entering the personal, educational, and entrance exam details.
  • Upload the Photograph, Signature, and other required documents in the specified format.
  • Pay the counseling registration fees of INR 1000 using a Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking. 

If the candidates are allotted a seat at VMMC under any of the quotas, they need to report to the college with the allotment letter and other documents to complete the admission process. The final admission will only be confirmed on document verification and course fee payment.
