The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala: Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala is a public law school and national law university located in Patiala, Punjab. It was established in 2006 by the Punjab Government and is accredited by NAAC with an ‘A’ grade. The university was created to fulfill the need for a center of excellence in legal education in the modern era of globalization and liberalization.
Courses Offered:
Bachelor of Arts + Bachelor of Laws [BALLB] {Hons.} – 5 years
Master of Laws [L.L.M.] – 1 year
Ph.D. – 3 years
Post Graduate Diploma in Prison Administration – 1 year
Law Course:
The BALLB (Hons.) program is a five-year integrated course that combines arts and law subjects. The curriculum comprises of law subjects and one major subject from the third year onwards. All subjects are compulsory in the first three years of study. The course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the legal system and its workings, as well as the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the legal profession.
Admission:
Admission to the BALLB (Hons.) program is based on the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) score. The university also offers a 15% reservation for Scheduled Castes, 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes, and 5% for Persons with Disabilities. For the L.L.M. program, admission is based on the merit of the qualifying examination and an entrance test. For the Ph.D. program, admission is based on an entrance test and an interview.
Fees:
The fee structure for the BALLB (Hons.) program is INR 2,00,000 per annum. The fee structure for the L.L.M. program is INR 1,00,000 per annum. The fee structure for the Ph.D. program is INR 50,000 per annum.
