Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is a public research university located in Maidan Garhi, New Delhi, India. The university was established in 1985 with a budget of ?20 million, after the Parliament of India passed the Indira Gandhi National Open University Act, 1985 (IGNOU Act 1985). IGNOU is the largest university for distance/part-time education in the world and has been declared the largest institute of higher education by UNESCO and accredited by NAAC with an A++ grade. The university aims to provide quality higher education opportunities to all segments of society through distance and open education.
