SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), formerly known as SRM University, is a large, top-ranked university in India with over 52,000 students and 3,200 faculty members. It was established in the year 1985 and has been given the status of a “deemed to be university” by the University Grants Commission (UGC). SRMIST Chennai bagged the 18th spot in the latest NIRF Ranking 2023 in the university category & 32nd position overall. SRMIST has six campuses located in Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Modinagar, Sonepat, Amaravati, and Gangtok. SRM University Online Registration
- Visit the official website of SRM University , and select the course.
- Register and log in with the provided email ID and password.
- Complete the application form with the necessary details and attach the required documents.
- Successful submission of the application form will depend upon the payment of the application fee.
- For online registration or downloaded forms, candidates need to pay INR 1200 either through e-payment or DD.
- However, the cost for the offline application form obtained from the university office is INR 1160.
- Upon successful submission of the application form, students need to save their application number for future reference.

1. How to apply for admission to B Tech ?
- To be eligible for the B.Tech programme at SRM University, you must have passed or be appearing in the 10+2 examination in the current academic year with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects; candidate must also have studied one of the following subjects as a major subject: Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, or Engineering Graphics from a recognised state board within India
- Admission to the B.Tech programme is through the SRMJEE (UG) entrance examination
- The admission will be subject to fulfilling the requirement of minimum marks in the qualifying examination as well
2. What is the admission process for PhD ?
- To be eligible for the Ph.D programme, candidates must possess a master’s degree or a professional degree equivalent to a master’s degree from a recognized university, with at least a 55% average or a B grade
- To be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme in the same institution, candidates must have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least a 55% aggregate grade or a B grade on the UGC 7-point scale
- A 5% grade relaxation is available for candidates from SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled groups
There shall be three categories of Ph.D. candidates:
- Full-time candidates are those who will be doing full-time research at SRMIST. They will be enrolled in the PhD programme and will be taking classes and conducting research full-time.
- Part-time (internal) candidates are those who are employed by SRMIST and are doing part-time research at the university. They will be taking classes and conducting research on a part-time basis, while continuing to work full-time at SRMIST.
- Part-time (external) candidates are those who are working in industry, colleges, government departments, research organisations, or other institutions. They are sponsored by their respective organisations to pursue a PhD programme at SRMIST, while continuing to work full-time in their respective organisations
