Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is a public central university located in the city of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. The university was established in 1875 by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan as the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College and became Aligarh Muslim University in 1920, following the Aligarh Muslim University Act. The university offers more than 300 courses in the traditional and modern branches of education, drawing students from all states in India and from different countries, especially Africa, West Asia, and Southeast Asia. It is open to all irrespective of caste, creed, religion, or gender. The campus of Aligarh Muslim University is spread over 467.6 hectares in the city of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, and is a residential university with most of the staff and students residing on the campus.
The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various fields, including law. The Faculty of Law at Aligarh Muslim University offers a three-year LLB program and a two-year LLM program. The LLB program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the law and its practical applications. The LLM program allows students to specialize in various areas of law, including Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, and International Law.
